Role Summary:
As the Part-Time Finance Director, you will be a key member of our leadership team, responsible for overseeing the financial management and strategy of our legal practice. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability and growth of the firm. Your expertise in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis will be instrumental in driving the firm's financial success.
- Financial Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement the financial strategy aligned with the firm's business objectives and growth plans.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, statements, and analysis for senior management, partners, and stakeholders.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, develop financial forecasts, and provide insights to support decision-making and resource allocation.
- Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow planning, working capital management, and treasury functions to optimize liquidity and financial stability.
- Cost Management: Analyze cost structures, identify areas for efficiency improvement, and implement cost control measures to enhance profitability.
- Financial Operations: Manage financial operations, including accounting, taxation, and audit functions, to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, implement risk management strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Financial Performance Analysis: Provide financial insights, performance analysis, and key metrics to support strategic decision-making and drive operational improvements.
- Partner Collaboration: Work closely with partners to provide financial guidance, support business development initiatives, and contribute to strategic discussions.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with external stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies, to maintain strong relationships and ensure compliance.
- Team Leadership: Oversee the finance team, provide guidance and mentorship, and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
- Proven experience as a Finance Director or a similar senior finance leadership role within the legal sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis, with experience in a legal practice being advantageous.
- Solid understanding of financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws applicable to the legal industry.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to provide strategic insights and drive data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent leadership abilities, with experience in managing and developing finance teams.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
