About the Role
A leading technology firm specialising in payments is seeking a seasoned Group Finance Director to join our dynamic team in London. The successful candidate will lead the company's global finance operations, drive financial strategy, and ensure sound financial governance across the organization. Experience in the payments industry—specifically with Payment Networks or Payment Acquirers—is essential.
This role requires a strategic thinker and a hands-on leader who can manage complex financial operations, deliver business growth, and work closely with executive leadership to align financial objectives with corporate strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Shape and drive the financial strategy across all business units, with an emphasis on aligning with our global payments technology objectives.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead and oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning, ensuring accuracy and supporting data-driven decision-making.
- Reporting & Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with UK and international standards. Oversee statutory and regulatory compliance across regions.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a primary finance partner to the executive team, board members, and external stakeholders, providing insights into financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Risk Management: Develop and implement effective financial controls and risk management strategies to safeguard assets and improve financial outcomes.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a global finance team, fostering a high-performance culture that aligns with our strategic priorities.
- M&A and Investment Analysis: Support and evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, and investment opportunities to drive growth, scalability, and market positioning.
- Payments Sector Expertise: Leverage in-depth knowledge of Payment Networks and/or Payment Acquirers to optimize financial processes, negotiate with vendors, and support product development initiatives within the payments ecosystem.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a senior finance role, with at least 5 years in the payments industry (either with Payment Networks or Payment Acquirers).
- Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent finance qualification.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the payments landscape, including regulatory trends, compliance, and technology advancements.
- Analytical Excellence: High-level expertise in financial modeling, analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
- Leadership and Influence: Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams and build trusted relationships with senior executives, board members, and investors.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to distill complex financial concepts for non-financial stakeholders.
- Agility and Adaptability: Experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented technology environment; comfortable managing change and ambiguity.
- Global Perspective: Prior experience managing finance functions across multiple regions, understanding both local and international market dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Sector-Specific Experience: Exposure to fintech or digital payments innovation, with an understanding of API-driven platforms and emerging payment technologies.
- M&A Expertise: Hands-on experience with mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
