Job Description: Financial Director (Turnaround Specialist) - Small York, UK Based Property Company

We are a small property company based in York, UK, facing significant financial distress. As a key player in the local real estate market, we are seeking an experienced and skilled Financial Director to join our team and lead us through a successful turnaround. Role Overview:
As the Financial Director (FD) in our company, you will be responsible for implementing financial strategies and leading the financial restructuring efforts to drive our turnaround. You will work closely with the senior management team and stakeholders to stabilise our financial position, optimise cash flow, and set the company on a path to sustainable growth.
The role is initially one day per week with an initial time commitment of 8 - 10 days.
- Financial Planning and Strategy:
- Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans and strategies to address our financial distress.
- Analyze and interpret financial data to provide accurate forecasts and projections.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and overall operational efficiency.
- Cash Flow Management:
- Oversee cash flow management and forecasting to ensure sufficient liquidity during the turnaround process.
- Evaluate and optimize working capital management, including inventory levels, receivables, and payables.
- Implement measures to improve cash collection and manage debt effectively.
- Financial Restructuring:
- Lead the financial restructuring efforts, including negotiating with lenders, creditors, and stakeholders.
- Develop and execute plans to reduce debt, renegotiate terms, and restructure existing financial obligations.
- Collaborate with legal and accounting professionals to navigate legal and regulatory requirements.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Provide regular financial updates to the management team and stakeholders.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate financial risks by implementing appropriate risk management strategies.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements.
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven track record in financial leadership roles, preferably within the property or real estate sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial restructuring, turnaround strategies, and crisis management.
- Experience in cash flow management, financial analysis, and budgeting.
- Excellent understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and tax laws.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
