As their business grows, they are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to lead their finance team and ensure the integrity and accuracy of their financial operations.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and provide regular forecasts, including analysis of financial performance and identification of potential risks and opportunities.
  • Internal Controls: Develop and maintain robust internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow, including working capital management and treasury functions.
  • Audit: Coordinate and manage the annual external audit process and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and submission of all tax filings, including VAT, corporation tax, and other statutory returns.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Financial Strategy: Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team, supporting decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and financial reporting capabilities.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Support various ad hoc financial projects and initiatives as required by the Finance Director and senior management.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is required.
  • Experience: At least 7-10 years of experience in finance, with a minimum of 3 years in a financial controller role, preferably within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Advanced Excel skills are essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to provide valuable insights and recommendations to senior management.
