Role Overview: The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial operations. This includes managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring robust financial controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance within the industrial sector, with a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead a finance team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly management accounts, year-end accounts, and statutory reporting.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives and growth plans.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls, processes, and systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support the company’s operational and strategic needs.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management to support decision-making and drive business performance.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, corporation tax, and other relevant filings.
  • Oversee the audit process, liaising with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support business initiatives and projects, providing financial guidance and expertise.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role, preferably within the industrial or manufacturing sector.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with a thorough understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Excellent financial management, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop finance professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining the financial health of the company.
  • A relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is required.
  • Experience in a rapidly growing business environment is highly desirable.
