Job Overview:
The Management Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and success of the business through accurate financial reporting, analysis, and strategic financial planning. Based 7 months in the Falkland Islands, remaining UK and international travel, the successful candidate will work closely with the finance team and various departments to provide valuable insights, support decision-making processes, and contribute to the overall financial stability of the organisation.
The purpose of this role is to analyse and interpret the groups financial data in a timely manner, summarising this into insightful and accessible management information for the improvement of business effectiveness, productivity and support of business development and growth. An excellent communicator with 5-10 years post qualified experience in managing stakeholders, implementing processes to gain timely and relevant management information, handling large data sets and presenting in an effective format to management will be required for this role. Spanish speaking candidates would additionally be very desirable.
£80,000-85,000 + benefits (including accommodation and car whilst in the Falklands)

The company’s investments in the local maritime sector include shareholdings and board positions.
The company is closely involved in managing a small processing plant set up to provide a local supply of Falklands seafood and export high end products to the seafood markets in The Netherlands
Our client owns a chain of small supermarkets and pubs with locations in the city of Stanley and Goose Green and Walker Creek settlements.
Their property portfolio includes buildings of historic importance such as Camber House and the Globe Bar and freehold land. A development involving the construction of 25 two-bed apartments in the Moody Brook area of Stanley is due to commence in 2024.
Their investments include modest holdings in companies involved in the exploration for oil in Falklands waters and a leading New Zealand fishing company.
The company is involved in promoting the investigation of large-scale aquaculture in the islands and the exploration of gold and other
minerals.
- To set up and operate a management accountancy function
- Implementing processes to gain timely and relevant management information
- Work closely with subsidiary and associate companies and business partners to analyse and interpret the groups financial data, provoding forecasts, and monitoring actual spend against budget.
- Provide leadership with insightful and accessible management information for the improvement of business effectiveness, productivity and support of business development and growth.
- Handling of large data sets and presenting in an effective format to management
- Ability to communicate finance to non finance colleagues
- Set up end to end preparation of monthly management accounts
- Working with department heads on and reporting on any expenditure variances
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts
- Business partnering and providing finance support on teams quarterly and
annual goals
- Working with different finance teams to streamline and standardise month-end processes
- Seek to constantly improve and implement best practice within the team
- Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth
- Contribution to annual budgeting and planning process
- Producing all commentary and variance analysis for inclusion in the management packs
- Qualified CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
- 5-10 post qualified experience years experience in a management accountant role
- Ability to relocate to Falklands for 7 months of the year
- Initiative to set up management accounting function
- An excellent communicator able to manage international stakeholders
